Walrus Roadside Stand opens at The Mall in Columbia

Walrus Roadside Stand, a new window-service concept inspired by classic 1960s American roadside eateries, has opened at the Mall in Columbia. The team behind Walrus Oyster and Ale House has added a service window, teal blue picnic tables with retro umbrellas, a larger-than life mural with chalkboard for the kids, and stools and counters along the sidewalk at the Mall in Columbia.

Walrus Road Stand serves tacos, signature hot dogs, burgers, sandwiches, waffle fries as well as soft serve ice cream, floats, and shakes. There are alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. There is also kids options. Here's the full menu.

Patrons can take food to go or at eat at one of the first-come first-serve outside tables. The Roadside stand is a permanent edition that will be open year-round. The outdoor seating will remain along the sidewalk in front of the restaurant, and heaters may be added later in the year for the colder months.

Table service from Walrus's normal restaurant menu will continued to be offered in a separate outside area in the barricaded section of road in front of the restaurant. This will continue for as long as The Mall keeps this section of road blocked from traffic. This blogger would love to see this section of road remain permanently blocked off from vehicles moving forward.

Walrus Roadside Stand is now open..
