There has been an outpouring of community support for Columbia Association President and CEO Lakey Boyd following reports that as many as 7 (out of the 10) members of the Columbia Association Board of Directors are actively plotting to remove Lakey Boyd as CA's President and CEO. Many community organizations, businesses, village boards, residents, and even Columbia Association employees and senior leadership have sent letters or provided oral testimony during resident speak out at CA meetings in support of Lakey Boyd, most notably during the standing room only CA Board Meeting held on Thursday November 10, 2022. Common themes amongst those testifying in support of Lakey Boyd are her organizational leadership; financial stewardship of the Columbia Association, creation of new community partnerships; commitment to diversity, inclusive, and equity; and as changemaker with modern vision for the future of CA.

How could these people stand in support of Lakey when the dont know the details ? If there is no pulbic information as to what the board is considering or why / how could these people defend Lakeys position when they dont have the specefic information as to if her removal is being considered or why. I would think that is an important fact- otherwise this huge defense when no details are known is curious on its face. Seems like they should ask or have more information.. if someone wanted to fire someone i personally liked- i would still want to understand why / what was going on / what the allegations specefically were before presenting a massive organized defense.…
That’s a very diverse set of groups and individuals with different and sometimes competing priorities and interests. It really speaks to Lakey’s leadership to get support from all those different corners of the community.
