Update (January 31, 2022): Chicken + Whiskey announced via a Facebook post that they will be opening March 2022.
Chicken + Whiskey is set to take over the former Urban Plates location at the Mall in Columbia (Suite 3035 at 10300 Little Patuxent Hwy). The new restaurant's liquor license is on the agenda for the October 12, 2021 Howard County Alcoholic Beverage Hearing.
Chicken + Whiskey is two concepts in one - its an authentic South American rotisserie chicken joint that is married to a whiskey bar. The chicken counter serves "good, fast, and cheap" "12-hour brined" "slow-roasted to perfection over 800 F natural wood charcoal" flavorful birds and delicious sides, salads, house made sauces, sanguiches, and wraps. The whiskey bar features "99 incredible whiskeys and scratch cocktails".
Chicken + Whiskey is a restaurant concept by Star Restaurant Group, which also operates The Walrus Oyster and Ale House and Walrus Roadside Stand, which will be their neighbors at The Mall in Columbia. Chicken + Whiskey will open in the 5,200 square foot space with a 400 square foot patio that used to be the home of Urban Plates. Urban Plates closed in July.
Chicken + Whiskey opened their first location in Logan Circle in Washington DC in 2017. Another location will be opening soon in Navy Yard Washington DC near Nationals Park.
