Breaking News: Hampden based The Charmery and The Food Market to open in Downtown Columbia

After being teased months ago that the next announcement of tenants coming to the Merriweather District will be concepts that Baltimore natives will recognize, the news is finally here! Hampden-based Ice-cream shop The Charmery and comfort food restaurant - The Food Market will open in Downtown Columbia, as reported by the Baltimore Business Journal!

The Charmery will open in a 1,390-square-foot space in the Juniper. It will be the fifith location for the Baltimore based ice cream shop, co-founded by Columbia native Laura Alima.

The Charmery is described on it's website as:

Charm City’s local hand-crafted ice cream shop – scooping fun flavors that make Baltimore so delicious! The Charmery hand crafts super-premium ice cream that focuses on the fun flavors that make Baltimore so delicious. We use the best possible ingredients, supporting local farmers and producers whenever possible. We have an ever changing sundae menu, seasonal ice cream flavors, sodas from scratch, hand-spun milkshakes, and floats with the root beer right from the tap! The Charmery is your chance to achieve happiness through ice cream.

The Food Market will open in a 5,000 square foot space at 10480 Little Patuxent Parkway, in Columbia’s Central District, and feature many of the signature dishes from the Hampden location. The website describes itself as:

Located on "The Ave." in Hampden, The Food Market offers fine eating and pleasurable service from Chef Chad Gauss and his hand-selected crew. The Food Market focuses on approachable, serious comfort food, in a smartly designed industrial-modern space. Award-winning Chef Chad Gauss’ value-driven menu offers our guests a complete dining experience, by combining recognizable ingredients with unparalleled technique.

I'll certainly have more on these two restaurants once I have time to digest and eat the news!
